In 1998 he started to travel the world of Hospitality, when he left school and started to work at the age of 18. He began his career in tourism, where he worked the first 3 years as a receptionist, moving to F&B in 2001, where he remains until today.
Paulo is a self-taught man of mind and soul! His challenge was always to push forward and show that in Portugal there are same or better level bars that anywhere else in the world, whether it is on the creative side or the best of hospitality. He always believed in Portugal and that it would always be harder to achieve here, but at the same time with this challenge, it would be much more rewarding to put his country on the map.
In 2014 he started to create the Red Frog speakeasy project which opened in May 2015 with the promise of being the best bar in Portugal and one of the best in the world, achieving for 3 consecutive years the best bar and menu at the Lisbon Bar Show awards. In 2017 he entered the list of the 50 best bars with n°92, the only one in Portugal. In March 2019 he opened his second bar, “monkey mash”, with a contemporary concept with a highlight on sustainability and zero waste.
